Welcome to Georgia Oral Surgery

About Us

We are a doctor-owned oral and maxillofacial surgery practice with deep roots in Decatur — and a genuine commitment to treating every patient like family. Since 1968, this practice has been a trusted part of this community, and under Dr. Elizabeth Consky’s leadership, that legacy of integrity, clinical excellence, and compassionate care continues. We are passionate about caring for our community with kindness, and we strive to serve every patient in a safe, professional, and joyful environment.

After 58 years in our current space, we are preparing for an exciting next chapter with a tentative move date of October 5, 2026. Our new office at 315 West Ponce De Leon Ave, Suite 900, in downtown Decatur will allow us to better serve our patients with ample parking, comfortable spaces for families, accessible rooms for patients with mobility limitations, updated imaging technology, advanced sterilization equipment, and modern surgical suites. We will notify you directly if your appointment is impacted, and we cannot wait to welcome you into our new home!

Board-certified oral & maxillofacial surgeon

Dr. Elizabeth Consky

Dr. Elizabeth Consky didn't stumble into oral surgery, she grew up alongside it. Raised in Ontario, her father is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon who has held leadership positions across Canada for decades. As a child, Dr. Consky folded patient paperwork and stuffed envelopes in his office. By high school, she was working as a sterilization technician and surgical assistant. Long before she ever set foot in dental school, she understood what it meant to care for patients with skill, intention, and heart.

That foundation took her to Princeton University, where she earned her undergraduate degree in English, completed her pre-medical requirements, and competed as a member of the varsity D1 Lightweight Crew team. From there, she earned her DDS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry — where she received the award for Oral Surgery and Esthetic Dentistry, led the free dental clinic SHAC, and served as President of the American Student Dental Association. She then went on to earn her MD from Emory University School of Medicine, completed a General Surgery internship at Emory Hospitals, and finished her Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency there as well.

That dual DDS and MD credential is genuinely rare. It means Dr. Consky approaches every surgical case with both a dentist's precision and a physician's understanding of the whole patient — their medical history, their systemic health, and the full picture of what safe, effective care looks like for them specifically.

Dr. Consky took ownership of Georgia Oral Surgery in 2024, continuing a practice legacy that began in 1968. She was drawn to practice ownership for a reason she'll tell you plainly: being the owner means the decision to do the right thing is always hers to make. Her personal philosophy is straightforward — do things once, and do them right. Treat everyone as if they were family. Listen before offering a solution. And if something goes wrong, make it right, every single time.

Outside the operatory, Dr. Consky is a mother of three, married to an ER physician, and very much a part of the Decatur community she serves. You'll find her on the soccer sideline, in the garden, on a bike trail, or on a ski slope with her family. She loves that her patients wave to her around town — it's what makes a city like Atlanta feel like a small, close-knit place. For Dr. Consky, that's not a coincidence. It's the whole point.

Your first visit

The Georgia Oral Surgery experience

Walking into Georgia Oral Surgery, you'll notice something a little different: it doesn't feel like a production mill. It feels like a place that was designed with you in mind — bright, calm, and genuinely welcoming. From the moment you arrive, our team is focused on making sure you feel informed, comfortable, and in good hands.

What to expect

Your first visit begins with a conversation, not a clipboard. Dr. Consky's approach is to listen first — to understand your concerns, your history, and what you're hoping for — before offering any recommendations. You'll receive a thorough evaluation, a clear explanation of your options, and honest answers to every question you have. There's no pressure, no rushing, and no moment where you'll feel like just another chart on the schedule. If you're anxious about your procedure, we want to know that too — our sedation options are broad, expertly managed, and designed to make even the most nervous patient feel at ease.

Designed for your comfort

Our new Decatur office was built from the ground up with patients in mind — every detail, from the warm waiting room to the bright, modern operatories, reflects our belief that a great surgical experience starts long before anyone picks up an instrument. We've invested in both the comforts that ease anxiety and the technology that ensures precision, so you can feel confident from the moment you walk in.

A space that puts you at ease

We designed our office to feel less like a clinical environment and more like a place you'd actually want to spend time — warm, welcoming, and thoughtfully equipped for patients of every age, from young children to grandparents. Whether you're here for a quick consultation or a longer procedure, our amenities are here to make the experience as comfortable as possible.

Warm, library-inspired waiting room

Our waiting area features bookcases, comfortable seating, and a calm, curated atmosphere that feels more like a well-loved living room than a typical surgery waiting room. There's also workspace available for parents accompanying younger patients, so you can stay productive and close by at the same time.

Warm blankets, music, & comfortable chairs

We do what we can to make you at ease, especially for patients who experience procedural anxiety. We want your time in our chair to feel as calm and as supported as possible.

Comfortable Waiting Room for the Whole Family

We know appointments do not always happen alone — families come together, and waiting is part of the experience. Our waiting room is designed to help everyone feel more at ease, with books, coloring, and toys for kids, plus chargers, magazines, and a TV for patients, parents, and caregivers.

Technology that supports you

Dr. Consky believes that excellent surgical care requires excellent tools. Our office is equipped with advanced imaging and top-line sedation equipment to support the highest standard of in-office oral surgery — so you get hospital-quality care in a practice that actually knows your name.

CBCT imaging

Our cone beam CT machine provides detailed, three-dimensional imaging of your teeth, bone, and surrounding anatomy — allowing Dr. Consky to plan every procedure with exceptional accuracy before she makes a single incision. Better imaging means better planning, and better planning means better outcomes.

Top-line sedation equipment

From nitrous oxide to IV and general anesthesia, our office is fully equipped to administer and monitor sedation at the highest standard of care. Dr. Consky's surgical and medical training means she manages your sedation with the same expertise and attention she brings to every other aspect of your procedure.

Premium implant systems

Georgia Oral Surgery uses Nobel Biocare, BioHorizons, and 3I implant systems — trusted names in implant dentistry known for long-term reliability and excellent clinical outcomes. You're not getting a generic solution; you're getting a system that's been proven to last.

Opioid-free pain control — Exparel

We offer Exparel and other opioid-free pain management options as a safer, more modern alternative to narcotic prescriptions following surgery. It's one of the most meaningful ways we can support your recovery — keeping you comfortable without the risks associated with opioid-based care.

Part of something bigger

Rooted in Decatur

Georgia Oral Surgery has been part of this community for over five decades — and for Dr. Consky, that's not a marketing point, it's a way of life. She sees her patients at the farmers market, at school pickup, and on the Decatur square, and she believes that a practice's responsibility extends well beyond its four walls. As our community partnerships develop, we look forward to sharing the ways we're giving back to the neighborhoods that have trusted us for generations.
